Independence

We do not accept payment for inclusion, for placement, for a position on a list, or for a favourable description. There is no queue to skip and no package to buy.

If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page and labelled on every affected page, before it ships — not after somebody notices.

How ordering is decided

Every list on this site has a default order, and it comes from an internal signal we call popularity: an editorial estimate of how much a thing matters to the people using this site. It is our opinion. It is never rendered as a rating, a score or a number of stars, because it is not one, and dressing it up as one would be inventing a measurement we did not take.

Where a list is opinionated — a collection, a comparison verdict — the criteria are published on the page itself.

Comparisons

"X vs Y" pages convert, which makes them the most tempting page type on a site like this and the fastest way to ruin it. The obvious move is to generate every pair: 500 models is 124,750 pages whose only difference is which two rows the table pulled.

We do not do that. A comparison page exists only where two things are true:

1. There is real demand for that specific pair.
2. The two things differ in enough concrete ways to fill a page with something worth reading.

Everything else is served by the interactive comparison builder, which compares any two entries on demand and is deliberately kept out of search results — because it is a tool, not a document somebody wrote.

That is why the comparison list is short. It is short on purpose.

Collections

A "best of" list without stated criteria is an advertisement. Every collection on this site publishes how it was decided, and every entry on it says why that specific one is there. If we cannot write the "why", the entry does not go on the list.

Corrections

Corrections are the cheapest quality mechanism a reference site has, so we removed every obstacle to sending one: no account, no email required, one form. An editor reads all of them.

When we correct a material error, the entry's revision history records what changed and when. That history is append-only.

Links out

Outbound links to vendors carry nofollow. We describe thousands of products; we do not vouch for them, and passing ranking signal to every one of them would be a claim we cannot stand behind.

AI-assisted writing

Some drafting on this site is assisted by language models. No entry publishes without a human checking every factual claim against a primary source and signing the verification. The date on the page is a person's date, not a model's.

Conflicts of interest

If we ever have a commercial relationship with an organisation described on this site, it will be disclosed on that entity's page.
